“Building Climate Resilience in Forest Sector –Carbon Credits, Carbon Trading, and Green Credits” Workshop today.
Environment Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI) organized a workshop on “Building Climate Resilience in Forest Sector – Carbon Credits, Carbon Trading, and Green Credits”at EPTRI on 13.02.2023 chaired by Smt. A. Vani Prasad IAS, Principal Secretary to Government, Environment, Forest, Science & Technology (EFS&T), Govt. of Telangana & Director General EPTRI.
Shri Vijay Kumar IAS (Retd), Sri. B. Prabhakar, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF), Govt. of Telangana, Dr. J Sesha Srinivas, Sr. Scientist, EPTRI, Shri Pranab Choudhury, Director, Landstack, Shri. Krutarth Shah, Co-founder and Director, Strategy and Product, Sustainology Climate Consultants Pvt Ltd and other officials from PCCF Head office, Charminar Circle, Rajanna Circle, Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI) and Telangana State Forest Development Corporation (TSFDC) participated in the workshop.
Smt. A. Vani Prasad IAS, Principal Secretary to Government, Environment, Forest, Science & Technology (EFS&T), Govt. of Telangana delivered the inaugural address virtually detailing the need and importance of carbon credits, carbon trading, and green credits for environmental protection.
Shri Vijay Kumar IAS (Retd) delivered an insightful lecture emphasising on the need for more rigorous research in the country on utilising forest litter compost to aid carbon sequestration through soil microbes.
Throughout its sessions and panel discussion, the workshop investigated ways to continue the greening of Telangana, preserve its green wealth and identify pathways of maximising the benefits through carbon credits and carbon trading. The participants of the workshop expressed their satisfaction and assured continued coordination and support in such endeavours.
