Bihar: Political activities intensified before floor test of Nitish Kumar govt held on Feb 12

Political activities have been intensified before the floor test of Nitish Kumar government which is to be held on 12th February in Bihar assembly. The ruling JD(U) has issued a whip to ensure voting of all party MLAs in favour of the government. Party chief whip and Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar issued the whip.

Ruling and opposition parties are holding meetings of MLAs to consolidate their position ahead of the vote of confidence of the NDA government.

The RJD which has 79 members in the Assembly has barred its MLAs to leave Patna to rule out any split in the party. Party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav held a meeting of its legislators this evening at his residence. Sources said, after the meeting the MLAs are staying back at the residence of Mr. Yadav.

The BJP which has 78 members in Assembly has also shifted party MLAs to Bodhgaya for two days training workshop. The Congress has already shifted its MLAs to Hyderabad over apprehension of any split.

In the 243 member Bihar Assembly, the NDA has support of 128 MLAs comprising BJP, JD(U) and Hindustani Awam Morcha. The Grand Alliance led by RJD -Congress has support of 114 MLAs. The magic figure to prove the majority is 122 in the assembly.
