Telangana State Aviation Academy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for getting advanced training for Drone Pilots with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) of ISRO in Hyderabad yesterday. Academy CEO SN Reddy, NRSC Director Prakash Chowhan have signed the MoU in the presence of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and ISRO Chairman Somnath among others.

As part of the MoU, the NRSC scientists and trainee drone pilots will receive training in drone piloting, drone data management and analysis and mapping for 15 days. Officials explained that the use of drones increased in all sectors, particularly in farming as the farmers used drones to spray fertilisers and pesticides and the Self-Help Groups also chose drones as a means of employment.

The Chief Minister suggested that all Government officials must be given training on the operation of drones. He also urged the aviation academy to create an exclusive Drone Port in Hyderabad as currently drone pilots were also trained in the same airport. He said the Government could provide 20 acres of land behind the Pharma City.

However, he asked them to first get clearance from the civil aviation authorities. ISRO Chairman Somnath has appreciated the Telangana Government for the new initiative for the first time in the country. He said the NRSC would actively be participating in sharing technology with the aviation academy to train drone pilots.
