Chennai Open ATP: Sumit Nagal reaches quarter-finals
In the Chennai Open ATP challenger, Sumit Nagal has reached the quarter-finals. Indian players also shine in the doubles at the games. Sumit Nagal defeated Italy’s Giovanni Fonio in straight sets to reach the quarter-finals.
The one-hour match concluded with Nagal beating Giovanni Fonio 7-5, 6-2 and set up a clash with Czech player Dominik Palan who defeated another Italian Samuel Vincent Ruggen 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. Top seed Luca Nardi defeated former top 20 player Bernard Tomic 7-5, 6-3.
Saketh Mayneni and Ramkumar Ramanthan ousted third seeded RAyho and Piotr Matuszweski 7-6, 6-4. Second-round singles matches will continue today with Indian player Sasikumar Mukund facing Tunisia’s Moez Echargui while the doubles event will move into the quarter-final stage.
