Jharkhand: ED arrests former CM Hemant Soren in alleged money laundering case linked to illegal sale of Army land

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials have arrested a sitting Chief Minister Hemant Soren from Jharkhand in an alleged money laundering case linked to the illegal sale of Army land. Although, Hemant Soren has tendered his resignation as Chief Minister of Jharkhand to Governor CP Radhakrishnan.

Hemant Soren has been taken to the ED Zonal office in Ranchi from the Governor’s House. Governor C P Radhakrishnan has accepted the letter and proposal by the coalition of JMM, Congress, and RJD MLAs in Jharkhand to elect Champai Soren as the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand.

But the Governor has yet not invited the incumbent ruling party for the oath-taking of the Chief Minister. The strength of 47 MLAs have together elected Champai Soren as the Leader of the Legislative Party.

Meanwhile, a writ petition has been filed by Hemant Soren in Jharkhand High Court against ED summons. The case will be heard tomorrow morning at 10.30 am by the division bench.

On the other side, the Adivasi Moolvasi Organisation has called a day-long Jharkhand bandh tomorrow tomorrow against the arrest of tribal leader Hemant Soren. Meanwhile, the BJP is also holding a high-level meeting of their respective MLAs in the BJP State office.
