Union Ministers Smriti Irani and Bhupender Yadav Release Advisory to Promote Women Workforce Participation
Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani and Union Minister of Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav today jointly released an advisory for employees to promote women workforce participation. It was released at an event organised on ‘Women In The Workforce For Viksit Bharat’ in New Delhi.
The advisory strongly encourages large and MSME employers to create common working facilities, dormitories, or dedicated working women hostels for our incredible female workforce. Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Smriti Irani appreciated the Ministry of Labour for bringing out this advisory and said that it is mandated in it that every employer will have to transfer the wages of the women workers engaged at construction sites in their bank accounts.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav said that women labour workforce particpation rate has increased by 13 per cent to 37 per cent in 2022-23 in comparison to 2017-18. He also informed that women enrolment in Higher Education has also increased by 32 per cent in the last ten years. Mr Yadav said that around 29 crore unorganised workers have registered on eShram portal of which 53 per cent are women. On the occasion, a guideline on creches was also released.
