Khelo India: TN complete grand double in Coimbatore & they also clinched 2 silver medals from shooting
In the Khelo India games and basketball event, Tamilnadu completed a grand double in Coimbatore and they also clinched two silver medals from the shooting. The girls’ and the boys’ basketball teams lived up to their favourites tag with the girls fighting back in the second half to beat Punjab 70 -66 while the boys staved off the late challenge from Rajasthan to win 86-85. Tamilnadu has now crossed the half century of medals which includes 19 gold, ten silver and 23 bronze.
Tamilnadu’s shooting contingent continued to rise to the occasion with Melvina Angeline J and S.Hitesh clinching silver medals in the girls and the boys’ 50 m rifle 3 position. In the boys 50 mt Rifle 3 position Hitesh raised his level after qualifying for the final in the seventh position and scored a total of 444. 2 to finish behind Adriyan Karmakar. In the 10 m Air pistol category, Haryana’s Suruchi clinched the gold medal on the last shot after state mate Lakshita faltered under pressure.
In Boys football, Goa beat Jharkhand 2-0, Odisha drew with West Bengal 1-1. In Volleyball, Girls Group A West Bengal beat Haryana 25 -10,25-25,25-27.Rajasthan bt Kerala 25-16,25-17,25-15.25-16. Tamilnadu bt Jammu and Kashmir 26-24,22-25,25-18,25-16. In boys’ Volleyball Andhra Pradesh beat West Bengal.
