The Ministry of Rural Development and Lady Irwin College have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen nutrition, gender equity and livelihoods for women. During the five-year term of MoU, the Ministry will work with the college on ROSHNI initiative- Centre of Women Collectives led Social Action to strengthen interventions for better results of health for rural communities.

Acknowledging the partnership, Additional Secretary of Rural Livelihoods Charanjit Singh said, academia is vital to bring fresh perspective to on-ground interventions. He added that the nation must appreciate and adopt traditional knowledge like agri-nutri gardens for food safety and nutrition sufficiency. Mr Singh further added that such messages should be disseminated in a crisp and effective manner.



Director of Lady Irwin, Anupa Siddhu stressed upon synergy between government and academia for women empowerment. She said the Lady Irwin College and the Ministry are on the same page to empower women collectives. She added this partnership will enhance gender interventions.
