Former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur will be awarded Bharat Ratna posthumously. The Rashtrapati Bhavan announced this in its communique. The announcement to honour Karpoori Thakur with India’s highest civilian award comes a day before his 100th birth anniversary. He was a prominent socialist leader.
