Mumbai: Nine-day long ‘Mumbai Festival 2024’ kicks off today

The nine-day long ‘Mumbai Festival 2024’ is all set to open on Saturday. The Grand Opening Ceremony, being organised in association with Kala Ghoda Art Festival, will be held at Mumbai’s Cross Maidan this evening. Chief Minister Ekanth Shinde along with Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar will be present on the occasion. The event will see performances by Tushar Guha, Supriya Sen, Dharavi Dream Project team among others besides poetry recitals.

Maharashtra’s Tourism Minister Girish Mahajan has said that more than fifty events have been planned across as many locations adding that the festival will offer something for everyone. One of the highlights of the Festival will be the Maha Mumbai Expo, organized at MMRDA Grounds. One needs to buy a ticket worth 149 rupees to enjoy the cultural performances and witness the flavour of local art, cuisine and handicrafts.

Curated tours, cricket clinics, beach cleanup activities, cinema fest have also been arranged apart from a Tourism Conclave to be held at Grand Hyatt on 24th. The discussions will revolve around sustainable tourism and using technology to reduce the tourism industry’s carbon footprint.

Besides Kala Ghoda Art Festival and the Mumbai Marathon, the Mumbai Festival will also hold collaborative events like Windmill Festival, NMIC’S Chronicles Of Timeless Treasures, KASHISH Chalchitra Utsav, Lollapalooza India and SAMAVESH.
