Hyderabad: Zoological Survey of India and NBFGR jointly organizes two-day national workshop concludes successfully
Mrs. Konda Surekha, Minister of Forests, Environment said that it is commendable that the Zoological Survey of India is conducting effective programs to improve the skills of young researchers and scientists. The Minister was the chief guest at the closing program of the national level workshop jointly organized by Zoological Survey of India and National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources at Avasa Hotel in Madapur on Friday.
The Minister said that Zoological Survey of India and National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources are proud to be a partner in the prestigious two-day national workshop. The minister said that it was a pleasure to see professors, scientists and many other fish scientists and young professionals from different parts of the country attend this workshop.
The Minister stated that the contents mentioned in the books ‘Fauna of Kawal Tiger Reserve’ and ‘Fauna of Amrabad Tiger Reserve’ prepared by the Zoological Survey of India are an impetus for the Telangana Forest Department to take active measures towards the conservation of forest animals in Telangana along with Kawal Tiger Reserve and Amrabad Tiger Reserve.

The minister said that the book ‘Freshwater Fishes of River Godavari’ would be very useful for the study of endangered fish species, to know the methods of aquaculture (fish farming) and another book ‘state fishes’ would be very useful for common people. On this occasion, the Minister congratulated the Zoological Survey of India and all the authors of the book who were partners in the composition of the book.
The Minister expressed hope that in this two-day workshop, the topics revealed by the experts regarding the body structure of fish and their morphology will satisfy the thirst for knowledge of the young researchers. With this wealth of knowledge, the minister called upon the researchers to carry out their research so as to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity.
Minister Konda Surekha congratulated the Director of Zoological Survey of India for successfully conducting this workshop. Minister Konda Surekha along with Principal Secretary of Forest and Environment Ms. Vani Prasad and others participated in this programme.
