Badminton: HS Prannoy to take on T.W. Wang of Chinese Taipei in quarterfinals of singles today
In Badminton, HS Prannoy in Men’s singles and the pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy in men’s doubles, advanced to the quarterfinals of the India Open 2024. The event is being held at the K. D. Jadhav Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.
India’s star shuttler HS Prannoy will take on T.W. Wang of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals of singles, while Danish fifth seeds Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen will present a tough challenge for Chirag and Satwik, today.
Yesterday, HS Prannoy outlasted a hard-fought battle against compatriot Priyanshu Rajawat to seal his place in the quarterfinals. The eighth-seeded Prannoy had to exert a great deal of effort against his junior compatriot Rajawat to register a 20-22, 21-14, 21-14 victory.
In the men’s doubles event at the India Open, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, world No. 2 in the BWF badminton rankings, also made it to the final eight after defeating Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han 21-14, 21-15.
The Round of eight in men’s singles section will start at 2:20 p.m. while the quarterfinals of doubles will start at 3:00 p.m. today.
