Supreme Court Issues Split Verdict on FIR Quashing for Ex-AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu
Supreme Court delivers split verdict on quashing FIR against former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu in the alleged Skill Development scam case.
While Justice Aniruddha Bose held that sanction under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act will have to be obtained after the provision became operational, failing which an investigation against a public servant under Prevention of Corruption Act shall be illegal, Justice Bala Trivedi held that Section 17 A would only apply to amended and newly ed offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The petition has now been referred to the Chief Justice of India for appropriate directions. N Chandrababu Naidu has been on bail since October 31, 2023 after being in judicial remand for 52 days.
