Delhi Airport to Activate Additional CAT III Runway; Aviation Minister Unveils SOP for Fog-related Disruptions

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia said that Delhi airport has been asked to immediately expedite the operationalization of the CAT III-enabled 4th runway. This is in addition to the existing CAT III-enabled runway. In a social media post,

Mr. Scindia said that in light of the impact on flight operations due to unprecedented fog in Delhi, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation will issue a Standard Operating Procedure for airlines on better communication and facilitation of passengers to minimize discomfort in view of flight cancellations.

Mr. Scindia requested all travellers to cooperate during the difficult period. He assured that all stakeholders are trying their best to minimize passenger inconvenience. The Minister informed that incidences of unruly behavior amidst this are unacceptable and will be dealt with strongly in line with the existing legal provisions.
