Hyderabad: GITAM Hosts Workshop on ‘Crafting Tomorrow’s National Builders’
The Department of Civil Engineering at GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, took a proactive step towards educational innovation by organizing a one-day workshop on ‘Crafting Tomorrow’s Nation Builders: A Workshop on Civil Engineering Curriculum.’ The workshop aimed to shape a curriculum that aligns with current market and future trends and imparts skill-based education in civil engineering.
Under the guidance of Prof. V. Rama Sastry, Dean – Core Engineering at GITAM, the workshop witnessed the participation of eminent experts from reputed research institutes. Dr. Katta Venkataramana, Professor (HAG), Dept. of Civil Engineering, NIT Surathkal; Dr. Jayakumar KV, Visiting Professor, Dept. of Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, IIT Dharwad; Dr. A U Ravi Shankar, Professor (Retd.), NIT Surathkal shared their valuable insights as resource persons.
The workshop served as a platform for collaborative discussions, the exchange of ideas, and the exploration of innovative approaches in Civil Engineering programs. The participants actively engaged in shaping a curriculum that not only meets academic standards but also equips students with the skills demanded by the dynamic industry landscape, as well as to crack the national competitive exams like UPSC, GATE IES, etc.

Dr. Chepuri Akhilesh, Dr. D. Mukunda Rao, and Dr. Shubha Avinash, HoDs – Civil Engineering, GITAM, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, and Bengaluru actively participated in the workshop, offering their perspectives and suggestions to enhance the proposed curriculum. Their contributions will play a crucial role in ensuring that the curriculum reflects the needs of the industry and provides students with comprehensive and cutting-edge technologies.
