Telangana: Govt receives over 1.24 Cr applications received during its Praja Palana
In Telangana, the State government has received over one Crore 24 lakh applications received during its Praja Palana, (people’s governance) outreach programme held at Gram Sabhas to receive applications from people for the proposed six guarantees. The Praja Palana programmes, held from the 28th of last month at Gram Sabhas across the State, concluded last evening. However, the State government announced that people can submit their applications at the concerned offices.
It may be recalled that the Congress party has made promises in the form of six guarantees during elections. These guarantees include a two lakh rupees loan waiver to farmers, free travel for women in the State-owned RTC buses, monthly financial assistance to women, 16000 rupees annual assistance per acre to farmers under Rythu Bharosa, supply of cooking gas cylinders at 500 rupees and 200 units free power to the poor.
Over 1.24 crore applications have been received for different benefits under the programme. Of these, 93, 38,111 applications were about the six guarantees and 15,55,704 were related to others. The State government has already initiated the exercise to upload the applications online to examine the applications and identify the beneficiaries.
