Senior JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today got elected as the new JD(U) President. During the party’s national executive meeting in New Delhi, current party President Rajiv Ranjan Singh resigned from his post. Party General Secretary K C Tyagi told the media that Mr Kumar has been elected new president of JD(U) unanimously.

Meanwhile, BJP took a dig at Bihar Chief Minister saying JD(U) is a regional party and Mr. Kumar was already the leader of the party and nothing will change after he becomes the Party President.

Party spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said Mr. Kumar had left the NDA with the hope that he would become the candidate for the Prime Minister post but he could not get it. He asserted that the BJP has a strong presence in Bihar and will emerge victorious in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as well as in the next assembly polls in Bihar.
