NCC organises Mega Cyclothon to celebrate 75th anniversary
To mark 75 years of the raising of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), a Mega Cyclothon is being organised by the Director General NCC wherein 14 NCC Girl cadets led by Col Anjan Sengupta from NCC Directorate UP, have embarked on a mission to traverse a distance of 2107 km from Guwahati to New Delhi on cycles.
In a Press release defence PRO Said, that the rally shall traverse through the four states of Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh before finally culminating at New Delhi on 28th Jan 23.
This All-Girls team having completed 300 km in Assam has now entered West Bengal and reached Cooch Behar on 26 Dec 23. The rally after Cooch Behar shall pass through Jalpaiguri and Siliguri for the West Bengal leg of the journey before entering Bihar.
The conduct of the Mega Cyclothon for the West Bengal leg is being coordinated by Darjeeling & Sikkim Group of West Bengal & Sikkim Dte.
The Mega Cyclothon was flagged in at Cooch Behar Military Station on 26 Dec 23. In solidarity and in spirit with the cyclists, cadets from the local educational institutions joined the Cyclothon Team from the iconic Rajbari Palace to Cooch Behar Military Station.
Upon arriving at Cooch Behar Military Station, the team was accorded a warm reception by 13 Bengal Bn NCC, wherein they were Flagged in and welcomed by the NCC cadets of ABN Seal College and Cooch Behar Town High School.
To convey a social message, a central cultural program was organized, wherein a skit on ‘Women Empowerment’ was also presented by the cadets of ABN Seal College.
