Telangana: Forest officials busted Spotted deer hunting in Tadvai forest at Mulugu under ‘Catch The Trap’ drive

A case of hunting a Spotted deer  (Duppi) in compt no.441/1,  Bollepally South beat of  Lingala Section Tadvai division of Mulugu district using wire as a snare came to notice of the forest officials and during investigation of the spot they have recovered the wire used as trap and also a part of skin of Spotted deer.

While investigating into the matter, 6 persons involved in this offence have been arrested on 25-12-2023 and are being produced before Court.

The staff also recovered the meat of the deer which was being dried in the house of one of the accused.

It is also informed that the forest officials have recently launched a State wide drive called Catch The Trap under which all kinds of devices like snares/traps/nets etc using various kinds of materials are being seized as a preventive measure to stop the killing of wild animals.

Recently a case of death of a person also reported from Karepally village of Khammam where a similar trap using electric connection outside forest area was laid for the wild animals but unfortunately a person came into the contact and died due to electrocution.

In order to ensure Zero Tolerance towards hunting of wild animals, the forester officials  have been instructed to rake all kinds of preventive and punitive measures to ensure safety and protection of wild animals.
