Anurag Thakur launches logo, jersey, and mascot of 6th Khelo India Youth Games in Chennai

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur and Tamil Nadu Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin today unveiled the official jersey of 6th Khelo India Youth Games in Chennai. Mr Thakur also unveiled the mascot for the Games. The mascot is the Veera Mangai Velu Nachiyar. The theme song of the games was also released.

Launching the Mascot and Jersey for Khelo India, he said that immense pride and privilege sense that the Country has unbelievable brilliant sports talents and has been witnessing continuous growth of sports in the country. He said that India is witnessing a special time of growth in the field of sports.

Describing Khelo India as the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Minister told that it has become a movement now. The Minister told that this edition of Khelo India Youth Games will introduce squash. Mr.Thakur told that to make India great in 2047, there should be collaboration in Sports with all the states.

The Minister asserted that India has heaped medals in international sports events and for the first time it has also won the Thomas Cup. We are building a great future for the talented sports persons, he added. While mentioning Sheetal Devi, the para champion in archery, he asked the sports people to push the limits and be an inspiration for future generations.

He told that region and religion do not matter, only performance matters. The minister said India will be bidding for 2036 Olympics and India will be among the ten top sporting nations.

Mr Udhayanidhi Stalin launched the official logo for the games. Speaking at the event, he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister Anurag Singh Thakur for conducting the Khelo India Youth Games in Chennai. He said that the State has a lot of sports potential and has been participating in international sports. He told that it is important to identify hidden rural sports.

Speaking at the event, the five-time grandmaster and the Vice President of FIDE, International Chess Federation, Viswanathan Anand said that India has been growing rapidly in the field of sports in international events.

The  Khelo India Youth Games will be held from January 19 to 31 next year. The upcoming edition will take place in Chennai, Trichy, Madurai and Coimbatore. More than five thousand 500 sports persons and more than 1600 coaches are expected to participate in the event.

Over 1000 referees and 1200 volunteers will be a part of the sporting event in which 27 types of sports will be played. For the first time, squash will be included in Khelo India games. Volunteers can register themselves on the exclusive website.

The previous editions of the Youth Games have been held in Delhi, Pune, Guwahati, Panchkula, and Bhopal.

Renowned sports icons including Chess Grand Master Vishwanathan Anand, Tokyo Olympian Fencer Bhavani Devi, Squash Champion Joshna Chinappa and Hockey Asia Cup bronze medalist S. Mareeswaran, among other esteemed personalities, were present during the unveiling ceremony.
