President Droupadi Murmu interacts with Bhudan Pochampally Weavers, Assures Growth Support in Telangana
In Telangana, President Droupadi Murmu today interacted with weavers in Bhudan Pochampally (भूदान पोचम्पल्ली) and assured them that efforts will be made to further developing Pochampally weaving. President Murmu visited Bhudan Pochampally village in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri (यादाद्रि भुवनगिरि) district of Telangana this morning.
The President examined the unique Ikkat weaving of Pochampally silks and cotton and the various processes involved in it. Ms Murmu appreciated the art of weaving, especially of Ikkats and the efforts to pass on the art of Ikkat to the next generations.

President Murmu expressed happiness that the unique Pochampally weaving got the GI tag. The President was also informed of the use of solar light for various processes involved in making Ikkat weaving. President Murmu also suggested that weavers from other parts of the country could be given exposure tours to Pochampally.
