Visakhapatnam: IGZP successfully organizes health evaluation exercise and Animal Health Committee Meeting
Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Visakhapatnam, convened a detailed health evaluation exercise and Animal Health Committee Meeting on December 16 & 17, 2023.
The committee included Dr. Nandani Salaria, IFS, Curator, IGZP, Smt. Mangamma, DCF, IGZP, Dr. Navin Kumar, Retired Deputy Director, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad and Dr. Manoharan, Retired Additional Director of Veterinary Services and Forest Veterinary Officer, Tamil Nadu, Dr. Purushotham, Junior Zoo Veterinarian, IGZP, Dr. Karunakar, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry, Vizag, Dr. Mohini Kumari, Dy. Director, Regional Animal Disease diagnostic Laboratory, Dr. Himaja, VAS, Regional Animal Disease diagnostic Laboratory, Dr. Ravi Kumar, Asst. Professor, Dept of Surgery and Radiology, Veterinary Poly Clinic, Visakhapatnam, Dr. Narasimha Rao, Veterinarian, ARC.

On the first day of the meeting Dr.Nandani Salaria, IFS, Curator, IGZP and Dr.Purushotham, Junior Zoo Veterinarian, IGZP has briefed to the committee members about the health of all the species and committee has given valuable suggestions regarding husbandry and diet and has also discussed various issues regarding the animal health-care.
The purpose of the Health Committee is to assess and discuss the health conditions, diet, behavior of the zoo animals, enrichment practices, rescue operations, and keeper education and suggest measures and interventions for betterment of animal health.by AIR
