Mizoram: Govt would work for the welfare and empowerment of the farmers: New CM Lalduhoma

Laying out priorities of the first 100 days, Chief Minister Lalduhoma said that he would pursue a holistic approach for the overall development of Mizoram. Speaking to the media after the Swearing-in Ceremony at Raj Bhawan, Lalduhoma said that his Government would work for the welfare and empowerment of the farmers.

Announcing a 12 points priority, he said that the Government would extend all possible assistance to the farmers. The Chief Minister said that his Government would fix minimum prices for local products and assured that the Government would procure local products such as Ginger, Turmeric, Chilli and Broomsticks to ensure higher income return for the farmers.
 
Lalduhoma further said that the new budget will be in tune with the policy of the ZPM. The Chief Minister said that the next fiscal will be declared as a year of consolidation. He also said that his Government will follow austerity measures taking into account the bad shape of the State’s financial resources.
 
Earlier in the day, the ZPM leader was sworn-in as the 9th Chief Minister of Mizoram post statehood. Apart from the Chief Minister, 7 Cabinet Ministers and 4 Ministers of State were also sworn-in by Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati.

Significantly, Lalrinpuii from Lunglei East constituency, who took oath today became the first woman Cabinet Minister in Mizoram since 1972. MLA Lalfamkima also took oath as Pro-tem Speaker. The Swearing-in Ceremony was attended by former Chief Ministers – Lal Thanhawla and Zoramthanga.
