ZPM leader Lalduhoma to take oath as Chief Minister of Mizoram on Dec 8
In Mizoram, all arrangements are in place for the swearing-in of Zoram People’s Movement leader Lalduhoma as the next Chief Minister of the hill state. The “Swearing-in Ceremony” will be held at Raj Bhawan in the heart of Aizawl city at 11 AM on Friday. An alternate arrangement is also being in place at Assembly House Annexe in case if the weather plays spoil sports and rains, as is today.
ZPM leader and former IPS officer Lalduhoma led his party to a thumping majority in the recently concluded Assembly elections bagging as many as 27 seats in the 40-member House. The ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) was reduced to 10 seats while the BJP got 2 seats. Once a dominant party ruling the State for about 20 years post-statehood, the Congress could snatch just a single seat in the elections.
Significantly, the rise of the ZPM marked the end of the bi-polar politics that was witnessed in the State for almost 40 years. The party is expected to focus on its poll promises that includes empowerment of the farmers, fiscal reforms and taking a strong stand on corruption. The new system of governance – “Kalphung Thar : Mipui Sawrkar” will be the hallmark of the new government.
Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati will administer oath to Chief Minister-designate Lalduhoma. Sources informed that other ministers are also likely to take oath of office and secrecy along with the Chief Minister. The new Chief Minister is expected to address the media after the occasion.
With all eyes now on the “Swearing-in Ceremony”, security has been tightened in and around Raj Bhawan and Assembly House Annexe, where the mega event is going to take place.
Mizoram will see a new face as their Chief Minister in Lalduhoma on Friday (8th December 2023). A former IPS officer and the man who once manned the security aspects of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Lalduhoma is the man that Mizoram awaits. Starting his political career in the early 80’s, Lalduhoma, who became Lok Sabha MP in 1984, has walked through many ups and downs for almost 40 years in the political corridor. The new Chief Minister will be announcing the first 100 days program of the new “Kalphung Thar” Government after the Swearing-in Ceremony”
