MICHAUNG likely to cross South Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam: IMD
India Meteorological Department, IMD has said that Severe Cyclonic Storm “MICHAUNG” (pronounced as MIGJAUM) formed over the Bay of Bengal is likely to cross the South Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam near Bapatla with a maximum wind speed of 90 to 100 kilometer per hour tomorrow forenoon.
The Cyclonic Storm over Westcentral and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal off south Andhra Pradesh and adjoining north Tamilnadu coasts has moved northwestwards with a speed of 10 kilometer per hour and currently lay centred over the same region.
IMD said that isolated heavy rainfall is expected tomorrow in North Coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and exceptionally heavy rainfall at one or two places over north coastal and adjoining south coastal Andhra Pradesh tomorrow. Besides, isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Rayalaseema and light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the Telangana region tomorrow.
For Odisha, IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy rainfall over south Coastal and adjoining south Interior Odisha till Wednesday. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into Southwest Bay of Bengal and along and off North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry Coasts till tomorrow. IMD has also advised them not to venture into Westcentral Bay of Bengal and along and off Andhra Pradesh Coast as well as Northwest Bay of Bengal and along and off Odisha coast till Wednesday.
