Telangana Assembly election results to be announced tomorrow

Telangana Assembly election results will be announced tomorrow. The counting of votes will begin at 8 am and results of the first round are likely to be declared around 10.30 am. Counting of votes will be held at 49 centres across the state. Counting centres have been set up at 14 places in Hyderabad district, four in Ranga Reddy district and two in Nizamabad district.

There will be 14 tables for counting of votes in each constituency. An additional table will be set up for the postal ballot. There will be 1766 tables for counting of EVMs and 131 tables for postal ballots. Police informed that section 144 will be in force at all counting centres including Hyderabad, Rachakonda and Cyberabad Commissionerates in Hyderabad.

A total 2290 candidates including 221 women and one transgender are in the fray while Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, PCC President Revant Reddy and E Rajendra of BJP are contesting from two seats each. Six MPs of Congress and BJP are contesting this time for the Assembly while over 100 sitting members are seeking re-election to the Assembly.

The BRS contested all 119 seats alone while BJP allocated 8 seats to its ally Janasena. Congress gave one seat to CPI. CPIM contested 19 seats alone while MIM contested in 9 seats. BSP contested 106 seats.

Meanwhile, a high alert is sounded in Telangana ahead of counting of votes on Sunday (3rd December 2023) in 119 constituencies. DGP Anjani Kumar held a video conference with all officers of Telangana police.

He directed the police officials to be on high alert and take all steps to prevent any clashes between political parties and candidates after the results are declared. He especially emphasised constituencies where there is a tight contest between candidates and previous violence was reported during the campaign or on polling day.
