Hyderabad: Counting of votes to start tomorrow in Telangana
In Telangana, elaborate arrangements have been made for counting of votes. A total of 49 counting centres have been set up. 14 out of them are in Hyderabad district, 4 have been set up in Ranaga Reddy district, while one centre each has been set up at the headquarters of 31 districts. About 40 companies of central armed police have been deployed as three-tier security arrangements have been placed at all counting centres.
A total 71.34 percent of 3 crore 26 lakh voters exercised their franchise for electing 119 members to the third Assembly of Telangana state. The highest polling of 91.89 per cent polling reported at Munugode in Nalgonda district while Yakutpura in Hyderabad district reported the lowest at 39.64 per cent voter turnout.
A total 2290 candidates including 221 women and one transgender are in the fray while Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, PCC President Revant Reddy and E Rajendra of BJP are contesting from two seats each. Six MPs of Congress and BJP are contesting this time for the Assembly while over 100 sitting members are seeking re-election to the Assembly.
The BRS contested all 119 seats alone while BJP allocated 8 seats to its ally Janasena. Congress gave one seat to CPI. CPIM contested 19 seats alone while MIM contested in 9 seats. BSP contested 106 seats. The contrast opinion of exit polls by a number of organisations including the Media houses, indicate the election was fought tough. Meanwhile, the election authorities indicated that the first trend will comes at around 10 AM tomorrow.
