Chennai: Regional Met dept predicts light to moderate rainfall to occur at many places over Tamilnadu
The Regional Met department has said that the low pressure area over South Andaman Sea and adjoining South East Bay of Bengal has moved west northwestwards, and lay as a well marked low pressure area over South east Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move further, and concentrate into a depression over South-east Bay of Bengal tomorrow.
Thereafter it is likely to move northwestwards, and intensify gradually into a cyclonic storm over South west and adjoining South east Bay of Bengal around 2nd December. Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation, light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at many places over Tamilnadu till third December.

With the advent of the north east monsoon, there has been widespread rainfall in the State. The presence of the depression has brought rains measuring more than 16 cms in some areas.Chennai and its suburbs witnessed continuous downpour since yesterday evening.
Office goers had a tough time as there was no respite from the rains and the traffic when going back home. As rains are bound to continue with another spell, schools in many districts have been closed down for today.
Moderate rains in catchment areas of the reservoirs which supply water to Chennai city, excess water were released with necesseary flood warning. As heavy rainfall lashes and more rains have been forecasted, tomorrow ( 30.11.2023, Thursday) has been declares as Holiday only for Schools in Chennai district.
