Nation celebrates Constitution Day to mark adoption of Indian Constitution

Constitution Day is being celebrated across the country today. Every year 26 November is celebrated as Constitution Day, to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly.  The Constituent Assembly of the country formally adopted the Constitution on this day in 1949, which came into force on the 26th of January 1950.  In 2015, the Government decided to celebrate this day to promote constitutional values among citizens.

To commemorate the 73rd Samvidhan Diwas (Constitution Day), the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has urged all citizens to participate in the Constitution Quiz and Online Reading of the Preamble. The Ministry has made two web portals operational to ensure Maximum Jan Bhagidari.

Online readings of the Preamble to the Constitution in 22 Official Languages and English are available on readpreamble.nic.in and people can participate in Online Quiz on Bharat: Loktantra Ki Janani through constitutionquiz.nic.in. These portals are accessible to everybody and anyone can participate and get a Certificate of participation. The certificates generated may be posted on social media platforms by using #SamvidhanDiwas.
