Kerala: Govt to constitute 3 member committee to inquire into stampede at Cochin University of Science & Technology

In Kerala, the State government has decided to constitute a three-member committee comprising experts from the technical education field, to inquire into the stampede that took place at the Cochin University of Science and Technology last evening.

State Higher Education Minister R Bindu told media persons after visiting the University campus,  that the government has sought reports from the Higher Education Secretary and the University Vice-Chancellor on the incident.

The stampede took place when students tried to take shelter in an auditorium following rain, where a musical event was about to begin. Four persons, including three Engineering students of the University, lost their lives in the stampede. Thirty four students are being treated at various hospitals in Kochi, of which, two girl students are in critical condition.
