IFFI: 15 films from across globe compete for prestigious Golden Peacock Award
In Goa, fifteen films from across the globe are competing for the prestigious Golden Peacock Award, the highest honour, at the 54th International Film Festival of India. Out of these, three are Indian films and 12 International movies.
Three Indian movies vying for the award are Rishab Shetty’s directed Kannada film ‘Kantara’, Sudhanshu Saria’s directed Hindi film ‘Sanaa’, and ‘Mirbeen’, a Karbi language film from Assam directed by Mridul Gupta. Foreign movies in this section include the Polish-Swedish drama ‘Woman Of,’ the Israeli film ‘The Other Widow,’ the French feature film ‘The Party of Fools,’ the German film ‘Measures of Men,’ and the Italian-Swiss drama ‘Lubo.’
This carefully curated selection of outstanding films represents a diverse array of genres, styles and cultural practices, reflecting the depth of the global film landscape. This award is given to the best film adjudged by a Jury comprising veterans in the Cinema industry. Filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor is the Chairperson of the Jury this year. The award carries a cash prize of 40 lakh rupees, which is equally shared between the director and producer of the winning film.
