ECI issues notice to BRS minister KTR; Directs him to provide explanation for conducting meeting at Govt premises

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a notice to BRS working president and minister K. Tarakarama Rao, directing him to provide an explanation for conducting a meeting at T-works, a government premises.

ECI principal secretary Avinash Kumar set a deadline of 3 pm today for the submission of the explanation, cautioning that failure to comply would result in appropriate action. The notice was served following a complaint by Randeep Singh Surjewala,

Congress MP, a few days ago alleging that the BRS leader, in violation of the model code of conduct, had organised a meeting at government premises with youngsters and made promises regarding job opportunities.

The Rangareddy district election officer submitted a report that a meeting was conducted at T works, Raidurgam and the minister attended the meeting. The video surveillance team covered the meeting and submitted a report.

Meanwhile, the total seizure of money, valuables, liquor, narcotics and freebies registered close to 700 crore rupees mark with a total 698 crore rupees so far. This included 277 crore rupees of cash, 113 crore rupees of liquor, about 38 crore rupees worth of drugs, 186 crore rupees worth of valuables and freebies worth 82 crore rupees.
