Andhra Pradesh: CM Jagan announces financial aid to fishermen who lost their boats due to fire mishap
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy announced financial aid to the fishermen who lost the boats due to the fire mishap in Visakhapatnam fishing harbour on Monday. A meeting was held with CMO officials on the fire mishap.
CMO Officers informed CM about the details of the fire accident and as per the preliminary assessment, financial loss amounting to 12 crores has occurred due to the fire mishap and final assessment is being done. The Chief Minister directed the officials to provide 80% value of the burnt boat to the fishermen.
Speaking at the meeting, Jagan Mohan Reddy stated the loss of boats is a huge blow to fishermen and during this tough period, there is need for the administration to stand by the side of the fishermen and give full confidence to them.
He ordered officials to act on humanitarian grounds and extend full assistance. CM asked the officers not to create hurdles to fishermen citing the reasons of insurance or any other technical reasons.
Earlier, responding to the fire mishap, AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed shock and immediately spoke to the officials and enquired about the rescue operations CM Jagan directed Fisheries Minister Appala Raju to visit the accident site.
He ordered an inquiry into the mishap and asked the officials to conduct an unbiased probe and submit a report in detail. Accordingly, Minister Appala Raju and District Collector rushed to the site.
