Hyderabad: ATAL FDP Inaugurated to Explore Opportunities and Challenges for VLSI in IoT Applications

The Department of Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering at GITAM, Hyderabad has inaugurated a six-day ATAL Faculty Development Program (FDP) on ‘Opportunity and Challenges for VLSI in IoT Applications’. The program, sponsored by AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy, commenced on November 20, 2023.

The inaugural program was graced by S.K. Chaurasiya, GM-R&D of NMDC Limited, who graced as the chief guest. Chaurasiya emphasized the importance of knowledgeable faculty in providing fruitful education to students. NMDC Limited, the largest iron ore producer in the country, is committed to eco-friendly mining practices.

Chaurasiya highlighted NMDC’s achievements, including their production of 42 MT last year and their joint venture with Legacy Gold Mines in Australia. He also stressed the significance of environmental sustainability and the need for smart technologies like IoT and AI to achieve success with minimal effort and maximum output.

Prof. V. Rama Sastry, Dean-Core Engineering at GITAM, expressed his hope to see this FDP evolve into a major national conference, emphasizing the potential for collaboration between GITAM and NMDC Limited. Prof. T. Madhavi, Head of the Department of EECE, acknowledged the demand for VLSI and IoT in the industry and the benefits that participants would gain from the FDP.

The FDP, funded and initiated by AICTE Training and Learning Academy, aims to equip faculty with the latest technological advancements. Renowned speakers, including Dr. Suman Lata Tripathi from Lovely Professional University and Dr. Duresh Nandinee from the Department of Psychology at GITAM, shared their insights on VLSI in IoT and time and stress management, respectively.

Prof. K. Manjunathachari, Deputy Director of GITAM and Coordinator of the FDP, expressed excitement about the program and the potential for technological advancements. The FDP will continue until November 25th.
