Andhra Pradesh: Forest officials rescues Sloth bear (male) in Gajapatinagaram mandal of Vizianagaram district
Visakhapatnam: Indira Gandhi Zoological Park team led by VAS in coordination with Vizianagaram forest division staff have successfully rescued a male Sloth bear in Gajapatinagaram mandal of Vizianagaram district.
According to the information given by DFO, Vizianagaram states that a male bear aged around 6 years has entered into the village, Vizag Zoo Curator Dr. Nandani Salaria, responded immediately and sent zoo staff led by zoo veterinarian Dr Phaneendra to the spot.
The bear was successfully tranquilized in the late evening and snares around its neck and legs were removed, followed by giving first aid treatment.
Afterwards, animal was brought safely to the ARC (Animal Rescue Centre) in Visakhapatnam around late night hours in a special vehicle. Some injuries were found on the sloth bear’s body and they are being treated, as reported by the VAS.
