ICC World Cup: India beat Netherlands by 160 runs

In the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, India thrashed the Netherlands by 160 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru last night to register their longest winning streak in World Cup history. The Men in Blue remained unbeaten in the tournament with their ninth consecutive victory.

Electing to bat first, India made 410 in stipulated 50 overs. Shreyas Iyer scored his maiden ODI World Cup century off 84 balls and remained unbeaten with 128 runs while K L Rahul smashed  a ton in 62 balls, which is the fastest by an India batter in the ODI World Cup. Apart from them, Rohit Sharma scored 61 while Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill scored 51 each. For the Netherlands, Bas de Leede took two wickets.

In reply, the Netherlands were all out at 250 runs in 47.5 overs as Indian bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja bagged two wickets each while Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma picked up a wicket apiece. Teja Nidamanuru scored the highest score for the Netherlands, with 54 runs.
Shreyas Iyer was named the ‘Player of the Match’.
Meanwhile, semifinals line-up of the World Cup is drawn.  India will take on New Zealand on Wednesday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

In the second Semi-final, Australia will lock horns with South Africa on Thursday at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Both the matches will start at 2 PM.

In a social media post, Prime Ministeri said, Diwali becomes even more special thanks to our cricket team. Congratulation to Team India on their fantastic victory against the Netherlands. Such an impressive display of skill and teamwork. Best wishes for the Semis! India is elated, he said.
