SCR GM Arun Kumar Jain Flags off ‘SAHASRASHV’ 1000th Electric Locomotive at Lallaguda
General Manager inspects Electric Loco Shed, Lallaguda
Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway flagged off the 1000th Electric locomotive of SCR named ‘SAHASRASHV’ and dedicated the loco to the service of vibrant and green India today i.e., 10th November, 2023 at Electrical Loco Shed (ELS), Lallaguda. Shri P.D Mishra, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer; Shri K. Thourya, Chief Electrical Locomotive Engineer; Shri Bhartesh Kumar Jain, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad division and other officials were also present.
South Central Railway has etched a new milestone in its journey of serving people with pride. The ‘SAHASRASHV’ locomotive is a symbol of the zone’s dedication to Mission Life and Sustainable Development Goals.
Accordingly, the locomotive is equipped with modern state of the art IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors) propulsion system which gives it regenerative braking capacity. This feature alone saves around 12.4% of electrical energy along with other benefits like saving 0.976 kilo tonnes of coal per year per locomotive and reducing carbon footprint by 2.362 kilo tonnes of CO2(e ) per year per locomotive.
GM inspection at ELS
The General Manager congratulated the SCR team for reaching this commendable mile stone. He advised the officers and staff to continue the same efforts so as to further improve the standards of Sustainable Development on Indian railways.
Shri Arun Kumar Jain also undertook detailed inspection of the Electric Loco shed. He examined the loco roof, labs and also inspected various shops in the loco shed which undertake different tasks such as a check, repair, replace parts and check performance of locos etc during loco maintenance.
Later, the General Manager conducted a detailed review meeting with officials and supervisors at the Electric loco shed. The General Manager also planted sapling at the Electric Loco shed towards promotion of green environment.
