The Kerala High Court has banned the bursting of crackers in all religious places during odd hours. In an interim order, Justice Amit Raval directed district authorities to conduct raids and take into possession crackers illegally stored in all religious places.

The Court observed that prima facie there is no commandment in any of the holy book to burst crackers to please God. The Court warned that if any violation of the order is reported, it will be compelled to initiate contempt proceedings.

The Kerala High Court was considering a case, in which petitioners sought its intervention for preventing the bursting of crackers in all religious places situated in the state.
