Maharashtra continues its dominance in 37th National Games

In Goa, skill, speed, and strategy are on display at the 37th National Games. The thrill of Lawn Tennis, Hockey, Sepak Takraw, Football, Athletics, and Taekwondo Action is underway. Besides these ongoing events, today marked the start of the Wrestling and Lawn Bowls event.

The game of Beach Football concluded today with the win of Kerala against Goa in the final match. Tejaswin Shankar of Delhi won the Gold medal in the Men’s Decathlon while Rohit Roman of the Services Sport Control Board stood in second place.

Ancy Sojan E of Kerala bagged the Gold medal in the Women’s Long jump and Shilpa Rani of Haryana got a gold medal in the Women’s Javelin Throw. Olympian medalist swimmer Virdhawal Khade proved his dominance again in swimming in the National Games. He smashed his own record in a 50-metre freestyle swim in 22.82 seconds.

Maharashtra has continued its dominance in the National Games and retained its first position from the beginning of the Games itself. Maharashtra has bagged 133 medals and 55 gold. Services Sports Control Board also continued its second position in the medal tally since yesterday with a total of 49 medals and 28 Gold medals.

While Haryana stood at third position with a total of 58 medals and 21 gold medals. The event, which is taking place at 28 venues across the State, will culminate on the 9th of November.
