Govt to investigate ‘state sponsored attack notifications’, IT Minister asks Apple to join probe
Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the government is serious about protecting the privacy and security of all citizens and will investigate the matter related to notifications sent by the Apple in its devices.
He said, the government has asked Apple to join the investigation with real, accurate information on the alleged state sponsored attacks. The statement came from the Minister after several Members of Parliament have claimed that they have received a notification about state sponsored attacks on their apple devices.
In a series of social media posts today, Mr. Vaishnaw said, the government is concerned by the statements that have been seen in media from some MPs as well as others. He said, information given by the Apple on this issue seems vague and non-specific in nature.
He said, Apple states these notifications maybe based on information which is ‘incomplete or imperfect’. It also states that some Apple threat notifications maybe false alarms or some attacks are not detected.
