The air quality in Delhi continued to remain in the very poor category today, as per the  India Meteorological Department (IMD), the overall air quality Index (AQI) at 8 a.m. stood at 332. The IMD said air quality is likely to be in the “very poor category” till the 31st of this month.

As per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, Jahangirpuri recorded the highest Air Quality Index (AQI) at 404, followed by Nehru Nagar at 393.

According to the CPCB, a total of 22 areas in Delhi have reported poor air quality in the morning. This deterioration is primarily attributed to sluggish wind speed and a drop in temperatures.

During the Winter season, unfavourable meteorological conditions such as emissions from paddy straw burning along with local sources of pollution, collectively contribute to the escalation of air quality to hazardous levels in Delhi-NCR.
