Delhi’s air quality remains ‘very poor’ with AQI at 308

Air quality in National Capital Region further deteriorated on Monday. As per the data released by the India Meteorological Department, the overall air quality Index at 7 PM today was recorded in ‘Very Poor’ category with the AQI index 308.
 
In view of the worsening situation in Delhi, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai held a meeting with 28 government departments tasked to ensure the efficient implementation of pollution control measures in the capital.

After the meeting, Mr. Rai said, the government has identified eight new pollution hotspots in the national capital and special teams will be dispatched to these areas to investigate and address pollution sources.

He said, in addition to the 13 air pollution hotspots in Delhi, the government is directing its attention to eight areas where the Air Quality Index (AQI) has surpassed the 300 plus mark.

These locations are Shadipur, ITO, Mandir Marg, Nehru Nagar, Patparganj, Sonia Vihar, Dhyan Chand Stadium, and Moti Bagh. The Minister further mentioned that instructions have been given to incorporate dust suppressant powder in anti-smog guns to combat dust pollution.
