Sikkim: Over 4418 people evacuated so far; Death toll stands at 40

In Sikkim, the evacuation of stranded people from Mangan district’s Lachen and Lachung continued today. The MI-17 helicopter, carrying 19 army soldiers and 2 civilians, successfully completed its second round from Lachung to Pakyong Greenfield Airport.

Pawan Hans also transported four ITBP personnel and one civilian from Pangong this morning.

As per the report from Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority, so far, over 4418 people have been evacuated, more than 2500 rescued, 76 are missing, over 1852 are sheltered at relief camps, and the death toll stands at 40 including 11 army men.
