Telangana: Hyderabad police seizes gold, silver & unaccounted cash worth Rs 2 Cr in checks ahead of state assembly polls

In Hyderabad, police have seized over 27 kg gold, 15 kg silver and unaccounted cash worth over two crore rupees in two separate incidents yesterday during the ongoing checking ahead of Telangana assembly elections.

Police seized gold jewellery weighing over 27 kg and silver ornaments weighing over 15 kg worth more than 15 crore rupees during vehicle checking at the Miyapur area. Since the three persons carrying them failed to produce relevant documents, police seized the jewellery and handed it over to the Income Tax department for further action.

In another incident, the Commissioner’s Task Force North Zone Team and police seized over two crore rupees cash from a car. Police seized the cash and apprehended six persons during vehicle checking at Kavadiguda, Secunderabad.

A car and a scooter were also seized from them. Police and other enforcement agencies in the state have seized so far cash, gold, liquor and other items worth over 90 crore rupees during the checking since the model code of conduct came into force on the 9th of October with the announcement of the Assembly election schedule.
