PM Modi inaugurates third edition of Global Maritime India Summit 2023
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the third edition of the Global Maritime India Summit 2023. Inaugurating the Prime Minister said the historic India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor will revolutionise the regional and global trade.
He said the decision on the Economic Corridor was taken during the G20 leaders summit due to India’s initiatives adding that it will help in decreasing logistic costs, help in environment conservation and create a huge number of employment opportunities. He said that the building of next generation mega ports, international container transshipment ports, island development, and expansion of multi-modal hubs among other activities will be undertaken under the project.
At the inauguration of the third Global Maritime India Summit 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also dedicated, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth Rs. 18,800 crore. He laid the foundation stone of the Tuna Tekra all-weather deep draft Terminal for 4,539 crore rupees at DPA for the promotion of IMEC. He also dedicated MoUs for Global and National partnerships worth. 7.16 lakh crore rupees .
The three-day summit will be held till 19th October at MMRDA Grounds in Mumbai. This biggest maritime event is being organised by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Governor of Maharashtra Ramesh Bais, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbanand Sonwal, Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shripad Y. Naik, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Savant at the Global Maritime Summit.
