Delhi: Anurag Thakur, LG flag off Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon Elite and Amateur Races
Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena flagged off the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon Elite and Amateur Races in New Delhi on Sunday.
In a social media post, Mr. Thakur said that it was an electrifying atmosphere with confident faces all around. He said that this marathon has inspired millions to adopt a healthier lifestyle to promote philanthropy. The Minister added that the annual half-marathon conducted by Procam International had a very positive impact on society.
Along with the many participants in the marathon, A 25-member team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) also participated in this Marathon to raise public awareness and promote the cause of safe and secure travel on trains for women.
The Ministry of Railways in a release said that along the marathon route, RPF personnel engaged with the public, displayed banners, and distributed pamphlets to highlight women’s safety on railways and seek support from all stakeholders to bolster this cause. It added that RPF has been diligently working to enhance the safety of women railway passengers.
