Jharkhand: CM Hemant Soren receives a big blow from High Court
In Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren received a big blow from the Jharkhand High Court. The Court today has rejected the criminal writ petition of the Chief Minister after the Supreme Court had also rejected CM Soren’s petition earlier last month against the ED summon in the alleged Army land scam case.
The double bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Justice Anand Sen while delivering the final verdict in this case rejected the petition saying that the petition was filed after ED had issued a summon to the CM. The court said that this petition is not worth hearing.
After listening to both parties, the Court, citing the Manohar Lal case in the Supreme Court, said that ED has the right to issue summons in any case. Chief Minister Hemant Soren had challenged the summon issued by the ED and had requested the court to cancel all the ED summons issued against him.
