ICG signs MoU with Gujarat National Law University for academic, research, extension and training activities

New Delhi, 13 Oct 23:  The Indian Coast Guard and Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) took a momentous step towards fostering academic excellence, research collaboration, and promoting extension and training activities as they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on   12 Oct 23.

The signing ceremony, held at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi, in the presence of distinguished individuals, including Inspector General Neeraj Tiwari, TM, Dy Director General (HRD), Dy Inspector General KR Deepak Kumar, TM, Principal Director (Manpower & Training) and Prof. (Dr)    S Shantha Kumar, Director, GNLU, Gandhinagar along with various other dignitaries.

This strategic partnership between the Indian Coast Guard and GNLU aims to strengthen their cooperative efforts in various domains, including education, research, and extension services. The collaboration will enable both organisations to leverage their expertise and resources for mutual benefit.

Indian Coast Guard and GNLU will work together to develop and offer specialized academic programs and courses related to maritime and coastal law, security, and management.

Indian Coast Guard will also collaborate with GNLU, Gandhinagar to develop and conduct training programs for its officers and personnel, ensuring the highest standards of professionalism and competence.

Prof. (Dr) S Shantha Kumar, Director, GNLU, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This MoU signifies a significant milestone in our journey towards promoting excellence in legal education and research. We look forward to working closely with the Indian Coast Guard to contribute to the development of maritime law and security.”

Inspector General Neeraj Tiwari commented, “The Indian Coast Guard is committed to enhancing its capabilities and knowledge base. This collaboration with GNLU will help us in achieving our objectives, and we are excited about the opportunities it will create”.

The signing of the MoU marks the beginning of a promising partnership between the Indian Coast Guard and GNLU. It is expected to lead to new research breakthroughs, academic excellence, and the development of a skilled workforce in the field of maritime law and security.
