Portals of Shri Hemkunt Sahib closed for winters in Uttarakhand

In Uttarakhand, the Portals of the revered shrine of Sikhs, Shri Hemkunt Sahib were closed for the winter this afternoon. During the closing of the portals, a large number of devotees witnessed the last Ardaas.

To commemorate the conclusion of this year’s yatra, the form of Guru Sahib Ji was decorated at Sukhasan place, led by Panch Pyars with pomp and fanfare to the tunes of band-bajas. Over One lakh 85 thousand devotees have visited Hemkund this year.

Meanwhile, the portals Lakshman Lokpal Temple, the holy pilgrimage site of Hindus situated in the high Himalayan region, have also been closed for the winter season with full rituals. It may be recalled that both the Himalayan shrine is closed every year for the winter season as the area becomes snow-bound and difficult to access.
