Karnataka: Inter-ministerial team visit drought-hit taluks of the state; also interacts with farmers
The Inter-ministerial team on a four-day visit to the state, toured the drought-hit taluks of Karnataka today. They visited the farmers’ fields and inspected the extent of crop failure.
They sought information on the status of crop loss in different taluks. They were briefed about the loss of standing crops in different districts. In Chitradurga, they had an interaction with the District Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu.
In Vijayanagar district, the Central study team visited agriculture fields where sown crops had withered. The district Deputy Commissioner Diwakar M S briefed them about the drought situation in the district.
The team members later interacted with the farmers. The team will continue their field visits tomorrow and then will return to Bengaluru and hold meetings with senior officials of the state Government. The state has sought compensation of 4860 crore rupees under NDRF norms.
